Trailhead Clearing Has Begun
A local Girl Scout troop has decided that for their Cadet Silver Project that they want to create some interactive trails in the wooded area at the back of our property.
The trails will feature "Leave No Trace" signage, as well as offering some meditation and relaxation tips.
The Garden Space
We have felt led to offer fresh vegetables to local food pantries. We're looking to offer an assortment of items such as tomatoes, peppers, corn, beans, lettuce, squash, and the like to local people in need.
During the winter months, we've been gathering all of our leaves, pine needles, branches and trees that have fallen onto our property. Burning the pile on top of the area for the garden will help to put nitrogen and phosphorous into the soil.
We've acquired a couple of small green houses to start some of our seedlings in the next couple of weeks as well. Looking forward to a busy planting season!
A Playground for Children
Another place we want to help is with foster families and organizations. We are looking to provide a space that foster families can come and have birthday parties.
We are in the process of building a playground/ropes course for kids to blow off steam. Our first item, was of course a zip line! As resources become available, we look to add in more activities.
